Amphi Festival 2023 Preview

It's been a while since the first Amphi Festival, more precisely 18 years have passed since then.
It is all the more gratifying that the festival just outside the city of Cologne has been able to expand steadily since then and that in 2023 it will be a festival highlight that the black scene is looking forward to, and not only in NRW and Germany. Guests from Mexico, Canada, the USA, but also Italy and Spain are not uncommon at the festival.

From July 29th to July 30th, the festival once again invites gothic and music scene lovers to a unique location on the Rheinterrasse just outside the city of Cologne to celebrate its heroes, the bands from the extensive line-up together. The Tanzbrunnen, where the Amphi Festival takes place, is a unique venue that guarantees a family festival experience due to its not too large area.On the circular area, the stage impresses with its unique umbrellas, under which it is excellent to endure on hot summer days.

As usual, the Amphi Festival is divided into three event areas, the Theater Stage with its dome reminiscent of a spaceship,the Main Stage with its striking umbrellas and the Orbit Stage.The latter consists of the MS Rheinenergie,
which offers a special event experience. The event ship has ample space and offers space for around 450 to 1,650 guests on 3 decks.
As the so-called Obit Stage, the MS Rheinenergie offers an extensive line-up of bands from post-punk to electro music over two days.

This year's headliner will undoubtedly be LORD OF THE LOST, DEINE LAKAIEN, UNZUCHT, OMD, although the degree between post punk and metal is probably fine-tuned in this combination and already has a lot to offer musically.

COPPELIUS is at the start this year at the Amphi for classic elements paired with metal sounds, whereby Coppelius should set accents like no other band. The band uses instruments like drums (Nobusama), double bass (Sissy Voss), cello (Graf Lindorf) and clarinet (Max Copella and Comte Caspar) and the outfit is also a slightly different approach, which is a must for Coppelius.

There are also some performance premieres this year, including the Canadian post-punk band TRAITRS and VANGUARD, OBERER TOTPUNKT, RABENGOTT, SELOFAN, RUE OBERKAMPF just to name a few.

The organizers have also packed a special offer for all visitors this year.Everyone should certainly know that at a festival and concert and no more power on the cell phone or camera. Just forgot!Not so at the Amphi Festival! For a rental fee, a mobile battery can be borrowed from the information stand, with which not only one device can be charged due to the performance (8000 mAh.) offered. Great, that's the way it has to be.

Furthermore, there is a photo service in the form of the AMHi FOTOBOX, which can be found on the premises at the Tanzbrunnen, for anyone who has forgotten their mobile phone (it has happened to me many times).
